I’m starting my first nursing degree
Compare associate-degree and traditional bachelor’s programs as separate routes. Ask each school which prerequisites you need before admission, how the nursing sequence is scheduled, and where clinical learning takes place.
When comparing cost, include prerequisite study and required fees. A published “two-year” or “four-year” label alone does not tell you your personal time to completion.

An accelerated BSN may be a relevant starting point. The programs in our starter directory describe second-degree pathways; compare their specific prior-degree and prerequisite requirements before assuming eligibility.
Check whether the advertised duration begins after prerequisites. Ask about weekly clinical commitments and whether the schedule allows paid work. Online coursework can still require substantial in-person attendance.

For RN-to-BSN programs, check license requirements, transfer-credit evaluation, the number of remaining credits and any practice experiences. Ask for an individualized completion plan before comparing an advertised total price.
Our directory includes RN-to-BSN and selected graduate pathways. Compare education and leadership master’s programs separately from nurse practitioner and practice-doctorate routes.
I’m considering an advanced degree
Start with the role you intend to pursue. A nursing education or leadership master’s has a different purpose from a nurse practitioner concentration. A practice doctorate may build on a prior nursing master’s. Confirm the exact entry requirements and clinical preparation for each route.
